Bayern Munich vs Dynamo Kyiv
High-flying Bayern Munich will be looking to maintain their outstanding form when they take on Dynamo Kyiv at the Allianz Arena in a seemingly winnable UEFA Champions League clash.
A comprehensive 3-1 Bundesliga win over Greuther Fürth over the weekend kept Bayern Munich’s unbeaten start to the season going. The ‘Bavarians’ take the field on a nine-game undefeated streak in all competitions (W8, D1), which includes a 3-0 thrashing of Barcelona in their Champions League opener. The perennial German holders have been a force to be reckoned with in Europe over the past three seasons, racking up more victories (20) and more goals (73) than any other side in the Champions League in that time. Indeed, Julian Nagelsmann’s men have been scoring for fun lately, netting 3+ goals in 14 of their last 22 matches in the competition. What’s more, Bayern have won 32 of their previous 34 games in the Champions League group stage (D1, L1), with their last defeat in such contests coming in December 2013.
On the other hand, Dynamo Kyiv and Benfica shared the spoils in an uneventful scoreless draw on Matchday 1, meaning the Ukrainians have now failed to get on the scoresheet in seven of their last 11 Champions League fixtures. They can at least find some comfort in keeping two consecutive clean sheets in the competition, as they’ve done in their last six games across all competitions. Furthermore, Mircea Lucescu’s men are unbeaten in all nine matches in the Ukrainian Premier League this season (W8, D1) and outscored Bayern 3-0 in their most recent Champions League H2H. That said, Dynamo Kyiv have lost all four previous Champions League visits to Munich, drawing a blank three times in the process. However, it’s worth noting they last faced Bayern in an away match-up in the competition in December 1999.
