Atalanta vs Juventus

Stadio Olimpico is the venue as Atalanta and Juventus go head-to-head in the 2023/24 Coppa Italia final.

Atalanta pulled off a stunning second-leg comeback to crash Fiorentina out of the competition’s semi-finals, courtesy of a 4-1 home victory, setting up their third Coppa Italia showpiece tie in five years. However, not since 1962/63 have ‘La Dea’ won this title, highlighting the size of the task awaiting them this midweek. Gian Piero Gasperini’s men are well-prepared for this challenge after reaching the Europa League final before beating Roma 2-1 in a crucial Serie A top-five six-pointer at the weekend. Virtually unstoppable in recent weeks, they’ve won six of their last seven competitive games (D1), notably winning the first half ‘to nil’ on five occasions! Moreover, Gasperini has been a thorn in Juventus’ side, keeping them winless in five of their last six competitive duels (W1, D4, L1).

On the other hand, Adrien Rabiot’s last-gasp equalizer rescued an embarrassing 1-1 draw against Salernitana last weekend. But it wasn’t enough to save Juventus players from another round of whistles in Turin. Massimiliano Allegri’s men have only won three of their last 17 competitive matches, with supporters demanding the Italian manager’s head on a platter. Given the circumstances, Allegri’s only chance to keep his job is to lead Juventus to a first piece of silverware since 2021. Yet, he’ll have to achieve that feat in Rome, and with ‘I Bianconeri’ going winless on their last eight domestic travels (D4, L4), that’s very much in doubt. On top of that, his men have scored more than once in just two of their eight competitive matches since the start of April.
