Arsenal vs Manchester United

Emirates Stadium forms the backdrop for a mouth-watering Premier League clash between table-topping Arsenal and top-four hopefuls Manchester United.

Arsenal cruised to a landslide 2-0 North London derby win at Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, keeping their perfect defensive record in 2023 intact (W2, D1). Having enjoyed their best-ever 18-match Premier League start (W15, D2, L1), the ‘Gunners’ come into this round five points clear of second-placed Manchester City with a game in hand. More importantly, the Emirates has been a stronghold this season, with Arsenal winning their first seven home league outings before a scoreless draw against Newcastle United last time out. Yet, that scoring blank means Mikel Arteta’s men are at risk of failing to get on the scoresheet in back-to-back home league outings for the first time since November 2020.

In the meantime, visiting Manchester United suffered a late heartbreak at Crystal Palace in midweek Premier League action, as Michael Olise’s last-gasp strike held them to a 1-1 draw. After being knocked down from an impressive nine-game winning streak in all competitions, the ‘Red Devils’ head to the Emirates, where they’ve lost three of their last four Premier League meetings with Arsenal (D1), failing to score three times in the process. But as the only side to have beaten the ‘Gunners in the Premier League this season (3-1), Erik ten Hag’s men are gunning for only their second top-flight double over this opposition since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013. After winning two of their last three away league matches (D1), they should be confident about achieving that feat.
