Arsenal vs Brighton & Hove Albion

Emirates Stadium forms the backdrop for a mouth-watering Premier League showdown between Arsenal and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Arsenal confirmed their Premier League title credentials with a superb 2-0 win at Aston Villa last weekend, completing their first two-game winning league start without conceding since 1971/72. Mikel Arteta’s side dispatched Wolverhampton by the same scoreline on the opening weekend. It was also the final score in this corresponding fixture in December 2023. However, before that win, the Gunners had failed to beat Brighton in three consecutive home encounters across all competitions (L3), suggesting they cannot take anything for granted. They probably won’t if they’re to win their first Premier League title since 2003/24, with confidence around Arteta’s camp at an all-time high. The North London giants have won their last four home league outings by an aggregate score of 12-1, netting multiple goals in each victory.

On the other hand, Brighton couldn’t have imagined a better start to life under new manager Fabian Hurzeler as they’ve won their opening two league matches against Everton and Manchester United via a combined score of 6-1. The Seagulls maintained their impressive start to the season in midweek League Cup action, dismantling lower-league Crawley 4-0 to progress into the third round. After becoming the first Brighton manager to win on his home debut in 23 years against Man Utd, Hurzeler is keen to lead the East Sussex outfit to three successive Premier League triumphs for the first time since September 2023. However, it’s worth noting that only five teams picked up fewer Premier League points on the road than Brighton’s 18 last term, with the visitors winning just two top-flight games on the road in 2024.
