AC Milan vs Lazio

Stadio San Siro is the venue as AC Milan and Lazio go head-to-head in a blockbuster Serie A clash.

Despite falling behind midway through the first half of their midweek trip to Cagliari, Milan turned things around before halftime en route to posting a comprehensive 3-1 victory at Unipol Domus. A dreadful 5-1 derby defeat to Inter Milan remains the only blemish on an otherwise flawless Serie A start (W5), with ‘I Rossoneri’ seeking another triumph after closing the gap on their neighbors at the top of the standings. Last weekend’s narrow 1-0 win over Hellas Verona extended Milan’s outstanding unbeaten Serie A run at San Siro to 11 matches (W8, D3). That streak includes a 2-0 victory over Lazio in May, while it’s also worth noting that Stefano Pioli’s men haven’t conceded more than once per match during that sequence. That bodes well for their bid to beat Lazio in a fourth consecutive top-flight H2H at home.

However, Lazio won’t go down without a fight after a 2-0 midweek triumph over Torino saw them arrest a disappointing three-game winless streak in all competitions (D2, L1). Maurizio Sarri’s men still have a point to prove amid the club’s dismal six-game Serie A start (W2, D1, L3). Given the circumstances, they’d likely settle for a point, but none of their last 11 top-flight meetings with Milan have ended as a draw (W4, L7). Moreover, they’ve only shared the spoils once in Serie A this term. Despite their underwhelming results, ‘I Biancocelesti’ have been regular entertainment providers on the road, with their three away league fixtures this season featuring over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet (W1, L2).
