AC Milan vs Juventus
Stadio San Siro is the venue as AC Milan and Juventus face each other in a mouth-watering Serie A fixture.
Despite picking up a 1-0 HT lead, AC Milan found themselves on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline against Spezia last time out, ending a run of three consecutive Serie A victories. With leaders Inter Milan now five points clear, ‘I Rossoneri’ can ill-afford another slip-up if they are to keep their Scudetto hopes alive. But after winning just two of their last six Serie A home matches (D1, L3), Stefano Pioli’s men may not feel comfortable at San Siro. Interestingly, none of Milan’s nine previous top-flight meetings with Juventus at San Siro have ended level (W3, L6), with the hosts suffering defeat in three of their last four such contests (W1). That’s not what the home support would want to hear, especially considering ‘I Rossoneri’ could lose back-to-back home league fixtures for the first time since September 2019.
Au contraire, Juventus take this trip amid a purple patch, having gone unbeaten in their last eight Serie A games in a row (W6, D2) since a 1-0 home loss to Atalanta in late November. Since five of their six triumphs in that sequence yielded an identical 2-0 scoreline, scoring first could be of the utmost importance here. Interestingly, Juve’s Massimiliano Allegri has yet to lose a Serie A meeting with his Milan counterpart Pioli (W11, D4). Since going down 2-1 at Hellas Verona in October, ‘I Bianconeri’ have racked up a five-match unbeaten run away from home in Serie A (W4, D1), including a sensational, come-from-behind 4-3 win at Roma in their most recent league trip. Yet, following a 1-1 stalemate in the reverse fixture in September, Juventus could draw both seasonal meetings with Milan in Serie A for the first time since 1991/92.
